Alex comes from
Romania. He is married, with two sons: one working as an educational consultant and one studying for his PhD Diploma at the
“A.I.CUZA” University in Iasi.
In Romania, Alex worked as a teacher of
Romanian and Latin Languages, technician for work`s study, standards and
ergonomics, and as a journalist.
A love of painting
came at an early age to Alex. He studied
History of Art in the “C. Hogas” Piatra-Neamt College. As an artist, he
has grown close to his confessor and master Varahil (Theodor Varahil Moraru) = priest, artist and
poet.
In Romania, Alex has had a series of exhibitions
(both solo and group shows).
Alex has published three
books of poetry; three more books and a novel on the way.
He is Editor-in-Chief
of a Cultural Magazine “Florile Dalbe” (“White Flowers”).
Alex is HONORARY
CITIZEN of his native locality PODOLENI,
NEAMTZ COUNTY, ROMANIA (1998)
Alex arrived in the UK
in 2007 and works as a labourer in a
building site.
Though he has had
tempting offers to move to London, Alex
prefers to stay in Guildford, where he has many friends and
acquaintances,”really special people!”. Guildford is very similar to the city
Piatra-Neamt, so called Pearl of Moldavy, close to his home in Romania.
“Both cities are superb, and the
places, and the people! Maybe in the immediate future they will be linked, why
not?” Alex thinks.
The work in this
exhibition has been created following nine or ten hours of hard work on the
building site and in harsh conditions : Alex lives in a house with many other
occupants, in a multifunctional room (2 m x 2,18 m !),which is bedroom, studio,
gallery, store, library, wardrobe etc.
In art, Alex has
ambitious projects, and he hopes to find a little bit more SPACE and time to
work on them.
“The delicious fruits
of the passion flower are savoured world wide”, says Alex.
